Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare resources required to gather site data.
  • Access and review maps and plans and locate site for assessment.
       
Element: Access site and identify building to be assessed from plans.
       
Element: Obtain and verify BAL for site and building location.
       
Element: Access and review jurisdictional plans for bushfire management for site location.
       
Element: Review legislation, codes of practice and standards relative to construction in bushfire prone areas.
       
Element: Assess construction materials for compliance with legislation, regulations and standards for bushfire prone areas.
  • Identify building materials for proposed construction from plans and specifications.
       
Element: Determine minimum requirement for construction materials according to jurisdictional plans for bushfire management, regulatory requirements and standards for site BAL.
       
Element: Assess compliance of specified building materials against site-specific BAL requirements and standards for buildings in bushfire prone areas.
       
Element: Identify and record non-compliance of materials to standards, legislation and regulations for bushfire prone areas.

Assessment Tasks
